 • Let’s face it. If you are a Mets fan, you are not going to get a chance to draft either Mike Zunino or Stryker Trahan for your future catcher. 2012 is considered a pretty decent year for college catchers and one of these following guys will probably be picked by the Mets in at least one of their top four picks:

o Dane Phillips - Oklahoma City - has hit 10-HRs, though the competition hasn’t been the best. .410/.504/.850

o Tom Murphy - Buffalo – hit two more home runs this weekend… 6-HRs, 24-RBIs, .373/.474/.814. Being consistently pitched around also.

    o Kevin Plawecki – Purdue - .375/.468/.688, 3-HR, 19-RBI, plus a fielding percentage of 1.000.

    o Peter O'Brien – Miami – leading team in batting against premier competition: .389/.483/.792, 7-HR, 25.RBI.

    o Ronnie Freeman - Kennesaw State - .342/.422/.468, 2-HR, 22-RBI

    o Josh Elander – TCU - .361/.451/.459, 1-HR, 9-RBI

 • Speed Checks

    o DSL (2013) 6-0 RHP Bryan Munoz - 87-89, 79 curve, 83 change

    o Arizona (2014) Lucas Long – 88-91, 77-curve

    o Auburn Derek Varnadore – 89-94

    o Mississippi Bobby Wahl – 91-95, 77-80 slider

    o FSU Peter Miller – 88-89

    o Edmond Santa Fe H.S. (OK) 6-5 Ty Hensley – 92-95, 92-2seam, 75-76-CB

o Lutcher HS (LA) LHP Jared Poche (2013) - 89

    o Lutcher HS (2013) RHP Corey Merrill - 87-88

    o Broken Arrow (OK) RHP Trey Cobb - 87-88, 89. 73-CB

I notice you still have not mentioned the kid that Dane Phillips plays behind at Oklahoma City University. His name is Chad Carman. He was the NAIA Rawlings Gold Glove winner in 2011 and is a 4 year starter at OCU.

this was just a reprint of someone else writing about Phillip. He didn't mention anything about Carman.

Good luck in the draft.
