Draft Game Notes

 • The #1 Florida Gators have so much talent, they can’t get some of their best players on the field. Poor baby. The Gators can’t get redshirt junior prospect Vickash Ramjit on the field. His natural position is first base, but that’s where Preston Tucker (.302/.352/.587) played until he moved to right field to make room for Taylor Gushue (.327/.441/.694). Gushue should be behind the plate, but no one is moving Mike Zunino (.414/.462/.879). An .879 slugging percentage? Really? (Zunino was also named the Louisville Slugger of the Week… went 7-18 (.389) with a 1.111 slugging percentage).

 • There’s no chance anymore for the first pick overall to go to a high school pitcher Yes, the recent injury of Lucas Giolito changed everything, but so did the recent dominant pitching by both Mark Appel and Kevin Gausman. Gausman had a particularly dominating win against Michigan and has regained te top slot on my mock.

 • Central Michigan (6-10) was beat Tuesday by Madonna. That’s embarrassing. Oh, it’s not the singer… some school named Madonna 6 (15-9) beat them. Is that like Maroon 5? Help me out here.

 • Albuquerque Academy (NM) C/2B Alex Bregman broke finger last night and is out for the remainder of the season.

 • Speed Checks:

                 o Texas A&M Rafael Pineda – 87-88, 84-85 slider
                 o Hagerty HS HP 6-5 Zach Eflin - 92-93
