LAST GAME: The B-Mets pounded out eleven hits, including seven for extra-bases, and Greg Peavey fired 5.2 scoreless innings in an 8-0 win over the Erie SeaWolves last night at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton jumped on Erie starter Ramon Garcia out of the gate. Pedro Zapata led off the first with a triple to right and Juan Lagares brought him home by blasting a two-run homer over the left field fence. Eric Campbell followed by doubling to right and scored two batters later on Jefry Marte’s two-bagger to left. Oswaldo Navarro capped the four-run inning with an RBI single to right. It was all the offense Peavey needed in his Double-A debut. The righty from Washing-ton worked around three B-Mets error and struck out five along the way. He did not walk a single batter and left in the top of the sixth. The B-Mets added to their lead on a solo home run from Allan Dykstra in the fifth and a three-run frame in the seventh. Kevin Mulvey tossed 2.1 scoreless innings out of the pen and Armando Rodriguez sealed the win in the ninth.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mark Cohoon (0-0, ---) will make his first start of the season tonight for the B-Mets. The Texas native started last season with the B-Mets. He went 1-3 with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts before being promoted to Buffalo (AAA) in late May. In 18 starts in the International League, Co-hoon went 4-11 and compiled a 6.11 ERA. A 12th-round pick in the June 2008 draft by the Mets, the southpaw is in his fifth season of pro baseball. It’s his third year with the B-Mets.

RHP James Avery (0-0, ---) makes his Erie SeaWolves debut tonight. The right-hander from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan was signed by the Detroit Tigers as a minor league free agent in January 2012. He was selected in the 5th round of the 2005 draft by the Cincinnati Reds out of Niagara University. He spent seven years in the Reds system, including four at the Double-A level before being cut loose by the club in the offseason. Last season, he went 6-12 with a 4.70 in 26 starts with the Carolina Mudcats (AA), then the Double-A affiliate of the Reds playing in the Southern League.

THEY’VE GOT THE POWER: Seven of Binghamton’s 11 hits went for extra base hits, including two home runs, two triples, and three doubles. The 24 total bases racked up by the team was the most in a game since they had 25 against the Portland Sea Dogs on August 19, 2011.

SLUGGING IT UP: While the B-Mets are second-to-last in the Eastern League with a .207 team batting average, they rank fifth with a .371 slugging percentage. They lead the league in triples with three.

STREAKING TO START: B-Mets 1B/DH Allan Dykstra has started his season on a four-game hitting streak. His home run last night was the first of the season. He hit 19 last year.
