Mets Sign Bobby Scales to a Minor League Contract


Veteran will join the Bisons in Buffalo 
April 1, 2012 ­–The New York Mets today announced that they have signed INF BOBBY SCALES to a minor league contract. The veteran infielder will join the Bisons in Buffalo. 

Scales, 34, played 68 games with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs of the Pacific Coast League in 2011 and hit .304 (70-230) with 22 doubles, nine home runs and 43RBI. He played 61 games with the Chicago Cubs from 2009-2010 and hit .248 (34-137) with three home runs and 17RBI in his major league career. 

Scales was with the Chicago Cubs this spring and played in 10 exhibition games. He hit .188 (3-16) with an RBI and a stolen base.

So let me see if I have the infield in Buffalo figured out...

You have Havens (injured), Wimberly (injured), Valdespin, Quintanilla and now Scales? That's in addition to having no position for Satin assuming Lutz and Dykstra/Pascucci have the corners covered.

It seems mighty crowded already and even more so when the ailing have healed.
