TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a two-game series at McCoy Stadium (6:15 p.m.). The Herd looking to earn a split of the set following a 4-2 loss last night. After tonight’s game, the Bisons will travel to Rochester for a four-game set at Frontier Field, April 7-10. 


vs. RED SOX: Dating back to last season, the Bisons are now just 2-10 in their last 12 games against the Red Sox. That mark includes a 1-7 record in their last eight games at McCoy Stadium. In those eight games, the Bisons have been outscored by the PawSox, 43-23. 


OPENING WOES: With last night’s 4-2 defeat, the Bisons have now lost their last four season openers. The last time the Herd picked up a victory in their first game was a 9-4 in Norfolk on April 3, 2008. The good news is in each of the past two years, the Bisons have rebounded to win the year’s second game. 


WE ARE FAMILIA: RHPJEURYS FAMILIA will make his Triple-A debut for the Bisons tonight. The 22-year old is the Mets’ #4 prospect by Baseball America. Last season, Familia struck out 132 batters over 124.0 innings at Double-A Binghamton and Single-A St. Lucie. He was given the Sterling Award as Binghamton’s Most Valuable Player last season. 


MVP RETURNS: INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI picked up right where he left off from 2011. The slugger hit a 4th-inning home run for his first hit of the season. Pascucci blasted 21 homers as the Bisons MVP in 2011. With his total from 2010, he now has 39 career Bisons home runs. With one more, he’ll become the 12th Bisons player in the modern era to reach 40 homers with the team. 


BISONS BITS: Seven players made their Bisons debut last night...RHPJEFF STEVENS appeared in a game as a Bison for the first time since August 31, 2008. He’s spent the last three years in the Cubs organization. 


METS UPDATE: The Mets picked up a 1-0 win over the Braves on Wednesday. LHPJOHAN SANTANA didn’t get the win in his return to the mound but did strike out five in five innings of work. The Mets are off today and host Atlanta again on Saturday (1:10 p.m.).


NIEU TEAM: The Mets announced today that they will recall OFKIRK NIEUWENHUIS before their game on Saturday against the Braves. Nieuwenhuis walked twice and stole a base in last night’s defeat. The Mets 3rd round pick in the 2008 draft will be making his major league debut for New York. He hit .298 with six home runs and 14RBI with the Bisons in 2011.
