4/8/12

St. Lucie 4, Bradenton 2

A late rally brought the tying run to the plate but no further, as the Marauders dropped to 1-2 with a 4-2 loss at St. Lucie. Jameson Taillon took the loss, but struck out a half dozen batters in his Bradenton debut.

Mel Rojas Jr. tripled home a run in the ninth inning to put the Marauders on the board. Rojas came home on a base knock by Carlos Paulino. Alex Dickerson had two hits in the game, his first two as a member of the Marauders.

After laboring in a scoreless first inning, Taillon worked a quick second and struck out the side in the third. The righty tossed 3.2 innings.

The Marauders are off Sunday before starting a three-game series at Palm Beach on Monday at 6:35. Gerrit Cole will take the ball for the Marauders in his first professional start. Cole was the number one overall pick in last year's draft.

The game will be broadcast online on Newstalk 930 AM and streamed online at WLSSradio.com. Pregame coverage will begin 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
