Binghamton 13, Erie 3

The Binghamton Mets set a season-high in runs scored and Gonzalez Germenmatched a career-high by throwing eight innings in a 13-3 victory over the ErieSeaWolves on Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The win was Binghamton’s fourthconsecutive and eighth in their last ten games.

TheB-Mets put nine runs on the board in the first two innings and finished one shyof a season-high with 17 hits. Seven of their nine starters collected multiplehits, led by Allan Dykstra’s 4-for-4 performance.

Thecontest was highlighted by early offense. After the SeaWolves grabbed a one-runlead on Jordan Lennerton’s RBI single in the top of the first, the B-Mets struckback with a vengeance in the bottom of the frame.

Binghamtonunloaded on starter Kelvin De La Cruz for six runs on six hits in the frame.Wilmer Flores started the scoring with an RBI double and Eric Campbell gave theB-Mets the lead for good with a run-scoring single. Jefry Marte drove inanother with a basehit and Dustin Martin continued the scoring with a two-runtriple. Juan Lagares, the tenth batter of the inning, singled home another runto end De La Cruz’s day. Jared Gayhart entered and struck out Havens to finallyend the frame, Binghamton’s biggest first inning of the season.

Eriescratched back with a run in the second on an RBI double by Wes Thigpen, butBinghamton continued their attack in the bottom of the inning. After a singleand a walk, Martin blasted another two-run triple off the top of the centerfield wall. Juan Centeno drove him home with a single to right, givingBinghamton a 9-2 lead.

Afterallowing a double to Thigpen in the second, Germen settled in perfectly. Therighty retired the next 18 SeaWolves in a row, cruising into the eighth. Thestretch was disrupted when Michael Rockett launched a pinch-hit home run.Germen capped his day by inducing Niuman Romero to ground out. He allowed threeruns on five hits and struck out three.

Gayhartclosed his day with three scoreless innings of relief and handed off to RyanRobowski who allowed three runs on six hits, highlighted by a solo home run byWilmer Flores in the sixth. Binghamton added one more run against Bruce Rondonin the eighth.

EdgarRamirez took over for Germen in the ninth and worked a perfect frame, securingBinghamton’s fourth straight win, matching a season-high. Germen (7-7) earnedhis second straight victory while De La Cruz (5-8) suffered the loss.
