The Binghamton Mets scored three runs in three separate innings and heldoff a late attack by the Altoona Curve in a 10-9 win at Peoples Natural GasField Sunday night. The B-Mets collected eleven hits, including six forextra-bases, and navigated around Altoona’s five-run eighth inning to collecttheir fourth straight win.

TheB-Mets jumped right out of the gate against starter Brandon Cumpton. Binghamtonput three runs on the board on two hits, three stolen bases and a costly errorby second baseman Jarek Cunningham. With two outs, Cunnigham booted agroundball, allowing two runs to score.

Theshaky defense continued for Altoona in the third. With runners on first andsecond, Oscar Tejeda misread a fly ball hit by Dustin Martin, allowing it tosail over his head for a two-run double. Wilfredo Tovar capped the inning withan RBI single, giving Binghamton a 6-0 lead.

TheCurve scratched back in the bottom of the third against starter GonzalezGermen. Altoona took advantage of two walks and collected two hits in athree-run inning. Matt Curry capped the rally with a two-run double.

Binghamtonstretched the lead back to six in the fourth with another three-run inning. Thefirst five batters reached safely against reliever Nathan Baker. Allan Dykstrasupplied an RBI single, Jefry Marte walked with the bases loaded and Tovar addeda sac fly.

Afterallowing an RBI double to Jarek Cunningham in the fourth, Germen settled in andretired 13 of the next 15 he faced. The right battled into the eighth, throwinga season-high 7.1 innings.

Withthe B-Mets leading 10-4, he allowed a triple and a sac fly before being liftedfor Jeff Stevens in the eighth. Stevens only fed the flames, allowing all fourbatters he faced to reach safely. The righty issued three walks and surrenderedan RBI double to Jeremy Farrell before Ryan Fraser took over.

Fraserinherited the bases loaded and induced Robbie Grossman to fly out before Holtripped a three-run double to right center, cutting Binghamton’s lead to one.Stefan Welch nearly tied the game with a single to center, but Lagares gunneddown Holt at the plate to end the inning.

Biddingfor his first save in over a month, Adrian Rosario got off on the wrong foot byallowing a leadoff single to Matt Curry, but was bailed out when Curry wasthrown out attempting to steal second. Rosario put the tying run back on basewith a walk, but struck out Cunningham to secure his third save of the season.

Germen(5-6) snapped a personal two-game losing streak with the win, his secondagainst the Curve this season. Cumpton (8-7) was saddled with the loss. He allowedsix runs (four earned) over three innings, his shortest outing of the year.

TheB-Mets (41-46) look to ride into the All-Star Break with a sweep as theycomplete the three-game series Monday afternoon at 12:00 PM. LHP Darin Gorskitakes the mound against RHP Phil Irwin. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pre-gameshow begins at 11:45 AM on ESPN 1360 WYOS.
