Trade Rumors....Yumm - By Pedro

Hello everyone!
So as I was working on my last post, I was reading around the internet just to see what they were saying about the Mets and potential trade rumors (Man, its great when your team is a Buyer) and saw an interesting deal that was rumored to be in the works with the Colorado Rockies.
Here are some of the names that have been thrown into the rumored deal:

Catcher- Ramon Hernandez …Age 36, hitting .215 with a .260 on base percentage and has 4 homers and 15 RBI in about 101 plate appearances.  He is close to coming off the DL apparently as well (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hernara02.shtml)

Pitcher- Matt Reynolds…Age 27, he’s sporting a 3.38 Era with 35 strikeouts in 37.1 innings this year (http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/reynoma02.shtml)

Now personally I’m Kind of on the fence about trading for Hernandez due to the fact the Met rotation has been very good with Thole and Nickeas so messing with that good chemistry isn’t exactly a sexy idea to me.

Reynolds is an interesting name in this deal though...based off his stats he's been pretty good so far this year and would be an instant upgrade over say Miguel Batista..or even Jon Rauch  (I’m keeping faith that Ramon Ramirez will get his mojo back and be an effective reliever again) but the deadline isn’t for another few weeks so there is still time to see if some internal options will prove to be effective (Beato, Acosta, Edgin) .

As far as some players that the Mets might be parting ways with in this deal, here are some of the names:
Justin Turner- If you recall the offseason trade talks involving a possible trade that would have sent JT to the Rockies for Eric Young Jr, Then it isn’t all to shocking to see Turners name pop up again
A few prospects were mentioned as well:
Matt Den Dekker
Dominingo Tapia
Wilfredo Tovar
Josh Edgin

I actually really like all these guys to be honest and I’m sure the Mets do too so I really hope they don’t have to part with any prospects to make this deal happen but that remains to be seen I guess. However it is nice to see that the Mets are making an effort to improve the Major league roster and it also cool to see the Mets as buyers for once.  The deadline should be interesting….
