Mets sign LHP Shawn Teufel to minors deal

Shawn Teufel is the son of former Met and current coach Tim Teufel.

Teufel, 26, went a combined 6-9 with a 6.62 ERA in 25 games and 20 starts in the Tigers organization last season. He made two starts for Triple-A Toledo after being promoted from Single-A Lakeland, although he went 5-7 with a 6.64 ERA in 22 appearances and eight starts for Lakeland last season.

Teufel has a career 4.93 ERA in three minor league seasons, having allowed 258 hits and 106 walks with 164 strikeouts in 243 innings.
