UPDATE - 2B - Dilson Herrera - Featured By BASEBALL AMERICA

7. Dilson Herrera, 2b, Mets
Dilson Herrera
Team: high Class A St. Lucie (Florida State)

Age: 20

Why He’s Here: .438/.457/.625 (14-for-32), 3 2B, 1 HR, 9 R, 2 RBIs, 2 BB, 4 SO, 1-for-1 SB

The Scoop: The Pirates’ decision to part with Herrera (and righthander Vic Black) last year to acquire Marlon Byrd and John Buck made sense as Pittsburgh made a postseason push and had plenty of depth in the system. In a few years, the Mets could see a major payoff from that deal, as Herrera has the chance to develop into an offensive-oriented second baseman. He’s spent time at shortstop this year, where he’s stretched thin defensively, but he’s riding a nine-game hitting streak with six multi-hit games in that stretch.

As a Dennis the Menace fan as a kid, we had good old Mr. Wilson. Pretty soon, we'll have Mr. Dilson. Hopefully he'll help make us the menace of the NL East.

I am writing an evaluation of second base in the system as part of my Sunday morning report. It will feature Herrera.

I know its only A ball, but its kinda cool to see Herrera and Nimmo putting up video game numbers.

Ernest -

I think both of these guys will be in the 2016 and beyond Mets lineup.

It'd be great to see them both get some AA time this season. If they keep hitting like this, it could happen mid-season.

A lot of folks don't likely know that Dilson played in the Colombian Winter League... Something like 40 games..so he is hungry
