Saturday night at Petco Park, the Friars got solo homers by Yasmani Grandal, Will Venable and Seth Smith as the Padres snap the Mets 4 game winning streak beating the Mets 6-0.  Dillon Gee started for Mets and gave up 2 of the long balls and fell behind early allowing a run in the 2nd, two in the 3rd and a run in the 4th.  The Padres made it 5-0 in the 6th when Smith homered off Carlos Torres. A passed ball by Travis d’Arnaud in the 8th allowed the 6th run to score.  Tyson Ross had the Mets guessing all night long. Ross lasted 7 innings allowing 4 hits walking 3 and striking out 6. He gets the win improving to 8-10. Gee went 5 allowing 5 hits, 4 runs (all earned) and struck out 8 suffering the loss. He falls to 4-2.  The Mets are shut out for the 8th time this year. On the night the Mets only managed 5 hits. Their biggest threat came when they loaded the bases in the top of the 7th, but Ruben Tejada struck out to end the threat. With the loss the Mets fall to 46-51 and 21-28 on the road. Sunday afternoon it’s the rubber game of this series Zach Wheeler (5-8  3.90) goes for the Mets, Odrisamer Despainge (2-1  1.35) goes for the Padres.
