August 9th 2014 - Mets 2, Phillies 1 (11 innings)

Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park, Lucas Duda hit a line drive RBI single in the top of the 11th inning snapping a 1 all tie, the Mets beat the Phillies 2-1.  Dillon Gee started for the Mets and had his best outing since the all-star break, going 7 allowing just 1 run on 3 hits.  The Mets got out to a 1-0 lead in the 5th on a RBI fielder’s choice by Wilmer Flores.  Carlos Ruiz hit a solo homer (3) off Gee in the 7th to tie it up. Gee left after 7, again the Met bullpen shined as Josh Edgin, Vic Black, Dana Eveland and Jeurys Familia all tossed scoreless innings. Eveland got the win improving to 1-1, Jenrry Mejia was given the night off due to a minor calf issue and Familia came in and worked out of a jam in the 11th to notch his 2nd save of the year.  The Met offense managed 8 hits on the night. Curtis Granderson, Duda and Juan Lagares each had 2 hits apiece.  Cole Hamels got the no decision for Philly going 7 allowing 1 run on 5 hits.  Antonio Bastardo takes the loss for the Phils. With the win the Mets improve to 56-61 on the season. Their road record is now 28-34. The Mets have now taken the first two game of the series. Sunday is game three of the set.  Zach Wheeler (7-8  3.48) goes for the Mets,  Kyle Kendrick (5-11  4.74) goes for Philly.
