LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets pounded out 17 hits in a 9-4 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets broke a 4-4 tie with a four-run seventh inning. Darrell Ceciliani, Juan Centeno andJayce Boyd each tallied three hits, while Boyd and Centeno also had  three RBI.  Brian Burgamy hammered his 22ndhome run of the season in the eighth inning.  Dario Alvarez tossed 1.1 scoreless innings to pick up the win in his Double-A debut. Gabriel Ynoa went 6.2 frames and allowed four runs on 11 hits, but didn’t factor into the decision.Cody Satterwhite struck out two in a scoreless ninth to nail down the victory.

BINGHAMTON STARTERRHP Rainy Lara takes the mound for the 18th time this season and the second against Reading. The righty is coming off of one of his best outings of the season in his last start. He tossed 7.2 shutout innings and struck out four in 3-1 Binghamton win over Harrisburg on Saturday, August 9. Lara didn’t factor into the decision in his only other outing against Reading. He went 3.2 frames and allowed four runs on June 23. The B-Mets went on to win the game 12-8. The  Bani, Dominican Republic native was signed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on October 31, 2009.

READING STARTER: RHP Ryan O’Sullivan toes the rubber for the 34th time this season and his ninth start. O’Sullivan  has started his last eight outings. He tossed seven inning in his last appearance and allowed just two runs against Altoona on Friday, August 8. The 24-year-old didn’t factor into the decision in a game Reading won 3-2 in ten innings. O’Sullivan made one relief appearance against the B-Mets this season allowed two runs on two hits in three innings on June 23. The El Cajon, California native was acquired by the Phillies in a trade with the Dodgers in 2012.

THERE’S A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: Binghamton visits Reading for the first and only time this season, on Friday. FirstEnergy Stadium is the only park the team has not played in this year. The team is 33-27 away from the Southern Tier in 2014 and 13-17 against teams from the Eastern Division. They took the only two other games against the Fightin Phils at NYSEG Stadium in June.

WALK THIS WAY: Binghamton batters have been very patient at the plate, recently. The team walked 12 times in their series against Erie. That includes seven free passes in game two of a doubleheader on Wednesday.  The B-Mets are averaging more that four base-on-balls a game in the month of August. They are set to face a Reading pitching staff that’s walked more batters than anyone else in the Eastern League.

BOYD BELTS BALL: Binghamton INF Jayce Boyd collected three more hits on Thursday. He now has a base knock in ten of his last 11 games. The first baseman has 43 hits in 33 games between July and August. The righty has raised his average 39 points since July 1.

OH, OH IT’’S MAGIC: Binghamton saw their magic number to clinch a playoff spot drop to seven games, on Thursday. The have a 13.5 game lead for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Division. They are one game back of Portland for first place.

COVERING THE LEADERBOARD: Binghamton INF Brian Burgamy hit his team-leading 22nd home run of the seasonon Thursday.  He’s third in the league in that category. The 33-year-old is also fourth in RBI, second in slugging and extra-base hits, third in runs, walks and total bases.
