Mets Minor League Report: August 17, 2014.

Mets Minor League Player of the Day: ??? I honestly cannot find an outstanding performance, worthy of the PotD award, among the players in action today. . . Any thoughts?

The Mets top three affiliates were all shut out today.

Omaha (68-60) stifles Las Vegas (72- 58) 4-0.

Noah Syndergaard, (L, 8-7) not at his best, was the victim of a feeble offense: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 3 H, (HR) 3 BB, 8 K.
Jack Leathersich was not at his best either: 1.0 IP, 2 R, 3 H, (HR) 0 BB, K. (At least he didn’t walk anyone.)
Giancarlo Alvarado: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K.

Matt Reynolds (2-4) had 2 of the 51‘s 4 hits today. Not an XBH among them.

Reading (55-72) nips Binghamton (76-50) 1-0.

Steven Matz: (L, 5-4) 7.0 IP, R, 6 H, 2 BB, 4 K.
Hansel Robles: 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB.

Only 3 hits for Bingo: T.J. Rivera, Juan Centeno and Kyle Johnson, all 1-3, but Johnson with the only XBH, a double.

Bradenton (70-55) smothers St. Lucie (68-56) 3-0.

Seth Lugo (L, 7-2) pitched well enough to win: 7.0 IP, 2 R, 5 H, (2 HR) 3 BB, 4 K.
Ryan Fraser: 1.0 IP, R, H, BB.

L.J. Mazzilli (2-3) got the Mets‘ only 2 hits.

Savannah (81-42) edges Greenville ( 52-74) 3-2.

John Gant was close, but got no cigar: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 3 H, (HR) BB, 9 K.
John Mincone: (W, 2-1) 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, K.
Bret Mitchell: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, K.
Darwin Frias: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K.
Akeel Morris: (S, 15) 0 R, H, 0 BB, K.
Maybe these five Savannah pitchers are worthy of Players of the Day consideration, as a group.

Champ Stuart: 2-4, 2 R, SB. (Stuart gets his 23rd steal of the year.)
Dominic Smith: 1-4, 2B, RBI.
Matt Oberste: 1-4, 2B, RBI.
Victor Cruzado: 1-4, 3B.

Brooklyn (35-28) boots Vermont (26-37) 7-3.

Casey Meisner (W, 3-3) had a strong outing: 6.2 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 6 H, BB, 10 K.
Cameron Griffith: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K.
Kelly Secrest: 0.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, K.
Brandon Welch: 0.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB.

John Mora: 1-3, R.
Amed Rosario: 1-3, BB, 2 R.
Michael Conforto: 1-3, 2 RBI, R.
Jhoan Urena: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R.
Tyler Moore: 2-4, RBI.

Kingsport (31-26) knips Greeneville ( 27-28) 4-3 in 12 innings.

Gaby Almonte: 4.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, 2 K.
Yoan Gonzalez: 3.0 IP, R, 5 H, BB, K.
Bryce Beeler: 0.1 IP, R, H, BB.
David Roseboom: 0.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, K.
Ismael Tijerina: (BS, 1) 2.0 IP, R, 2 H, BB.
Ramon Estevez: (W, 1-1) 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K.

Vicente Lupo: 2-5, 2B, 2 R. (Lupo again scored the winning run, but not in as dramatic a fashion as last night.)
Wuilmer Becerra: 2-4, BB, R. (Becerra also had an outfield assist, throwing out a runner at third base from right field.)

I'd nominate Meisner for the 10 Ks. Actually, Thor's, Gant's amd Matz's #s not bad either. But I'd go with not Casey at the Bat but Casey on the Mound. Lupo should get special mention for keeping his red hot streak alive - no lapse after your prior Star of Nite award to him.

I agree with Thomas , Meisner has done a complete 360 from 4 games ago
