Bradenton 12 - St. Lucie 1

The Bradenton Marauders rolled to a 12-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets at McKechnie Field on Friday.

The Marauders tagged Mets starter Logan Taylor for three runs in the first innings and never looked back.

Bradenton pounded out 14 hits in the game. Leading the way were Austin Meadows, Justin Maffei and Erich Weiss. Meadows was 3 for 6 and scored three runs. Maffei was only 1 for 4 but he scored a game-high four runs. Weiss drove in four runs.

The Mets scraped across their only run in the second when Colton Plaia’s two-out RBI double cut the deficit to 3-1. However, the Marauders answered right back in their half of the inning with a run to go up 4-1.

Bradenton added two runs in the fourth and another in the seventh to go up 7-1. The Marauders then poured it on in the eighth. The first six batters all reached against Robby Coles (one error, two walks, two singles and a double) and the first five scored. Weiss’ two-run double was the big blow.

Taylor only lasted 3.2 innings. He gave up eight hits and six runs, five earned.

Coles allowed six runs but only three were earned. The Mets committed four errors for the third time this season.

The Mets only registered six hits. Amed Rosario had a single and a double.

Jeff McNeil’s nine-game hitting streak came to an end but he reached twice on a walk and hit by pitch.

Bradenton starter Felipe Gonzalez shut the Mets down over six innings. He allowed one run, three hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six. He retired the last 13 Mets he faced.

Lucies sent out a "May Day" on May 1, but no one answered. Glug, glug.
