May 6th 2015 -- Mets 5, Orioles 1

Wednesday night at Citi Field, Dilson Herrera went 3 for 3 with his 1st homer of the year and drove in 3, Jacob deGrom was back in form as well. The Mets beat the Orioles 5-1.

Ubaldo Jimenez was the starter for Baltimore. The Mets scored single runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  In the 2nd Herrera’s RBI single brought home Michael Cuddyer. In the 3rd, Curtis Granderson launched his 2nd homer of the year over the 330 mark down the line in right field.

 In the 4th Granderson’s sac-fly plated Kevin Plawecki.  In the 5th inning the O’s got to deGrom when Jimmy Paredes RBI single scored Travis Snider with Baltimore’s only run on the night.  Herrera put bow on the win in the 6th when he clubbed a 2 run homer, his 1st on the year to make it 5-1.  deGrom went 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 run (earned) walking 1 and striking out 9. Carlos Torres pitched the 8th inning. Alex Torres started the 9th with 1 out Terry Collins brought in Jeurys Familia in a none save situation and he retired the side. Offensively Plawecki went 1 for 3 on the night and extends his hitting streak to 6 games. With the 3 hits Herrera raises his batting average to .250. deGrom gets the win pulling his record to 3-3 on the season. Jimenez allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in his 4 innings and takes the loss falling to 2-2.

 The Mets sweep the 2 game series from the O’s. They now stand at 18-10 and are 13-3 at Citi Field. Thursday is an off day. Fri, Sat and Sunday the Mets are in Philadelphia.  Friday night Matt Harvey (5-0 2.41) looks for win #6 on the year. Cole Hamels (1-3 4.14) goes for Philadelphia.
