Mets Minor League Games - 5-11-15

2 up, 2 down for the Mets Minors squads last night.

Minor League Player of The Night - Tyler Pill, for a brilliant outing after hie early season struggles, and Robert Gsellman, with his latest in a string of terrific starts.

Honorable Mention - Darrell Ceciliani, for hiking his average to .337 with 3 hits and for starting to look like someone to really consider as a future major leaguer. Let's add Stefan Sabol of Savannah for 3 hits, a HR, and 3 ribbies.

AAA - Las Vegas (22-10) 3 - El Paso ( 19-13) 1

    RHSP Tyler Pill -  7.0-IP, 3-H, 1-R, 8-K, 1-BB, 6.43

    CF Darrell Ceciliani -  3-4, .337

    LHRP Scott Rice -   1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 1-K, 2-BB, 0.90

El Paso has petitioned for the Vegas 51s to leave town, as the 51s are 16-2 in their last 18 games.  Tyler Pill says, " Don't sweat it, I can pitch like Noah Syndergaard."

AA - Binghamton - (18-13) 3 - Richmond (10-18) 4

    RHSP Seth Lugo -  6.0-Ip, 7-H, 4-R, 8-K, 1-BB, 2.45

    SS Gavin Cecchini - 1-3, 1-R, 1-HR (2), 1-RBI, .325

    LHRP Adam Kolarek - 1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 1-K, 0-BB, 6.06

Lugo pitched well again, but reliever Matt Koch allowed 2 inherited runners to score in this low offense B Mets game.  Adam Kolarek's ERA has lowered to 6.06 from being over 14 following the latest of his string of scoreless outings.  And it is always good to see Cecchini display some power to go with that impressive .325 BA2.

A+ - St. Lucie - (13-18) 2 - Tampa (17-14) 4

    RHSP Robert Gsellman - 8.0-IP, 5-H, 1-R, 5-K, 0-BB, 1.46

Mack - Gsellman comes into this game being named the Pitcher of the Month in the Florida League. He's 21-years old and looks to be lined up to be the first starter to eventually be promoted to the Binghamton rotation once all that stuff starts happening. Excellent trade bait material. Lifetime pro stats going into this game: 62-games, 50-starts, 21-15, 2.73.

Brennan - Bobby Parnell was treacherous in rehab, allowing 3 runs in the 9th following Gsellman's excellent effort.  Conforto hitless again, but Dom Smith showing glimpses of life with a hit and a walk. 2B Phil Evans 2 for 4 in his first action of the season. The Lucies ain't hitting a lick.

    2B Phillip Evans - 2-4, 2-R, .500

A - Savannah - (12-8) 6 - Hickory (21-9) 3

    RHSP Scarlyn Reyes -  6.0-IP, 8-H, 2-R, 4-K, 1-BB, 3.86

    3B Jean Rodriguez  -   3-5, 2-R, .298

    1B Stefan Sabol -   3-4, 2-R, 1-HR (3), 3-RBI, .275

The Gnats have really started to hit after being moribund for much of the season. You hit, you win.  And they'vw won 5 of 7 after a 7-16 start.

GOAT: BOBBY PARNELL

Man...I really think you need to consider DFA'ing Kirk Nieuwenhuis and bringing up Darrell Ceciliani to replace him as the 4th OF/back-up starting CF.

In addition this Mayberry experiment is not working well...Give him a few more weeks but if he continues to struggle, Alex Castellanos phone should be wringing.

Couple of buddies of mine down in Florida are saying that Conforto is still crushing the baseball.

He's just not finding the holes right now.

Makes sense...over the past 9 games he has a .222 AVG but his BABIP is a paltry .229. He's only K'd twice over 38 Plate Appearances
