Minor League Recap - 5-1-15

Minor League Player of The Night - Johhny Monell, going 3 for 4 to raise his average to .407.  Matt Reynolds with 2 for 4, including his 10th and 11th doubles early in the 2015 campaign.


Honorable Mention - Gabe Ynoa with a strong outing with 8 Ks.


AAA - Las Vegas - (14-8) 4 - Reno (9-13) 3

Reno ran into the Rhino that is the destructive LV 51's.

    RHSP Matt Bowman - 5 IP, 2H, 1 R, 1 K, ERA coming down.

   C Johnny Monell - see above.  He has hit from the first days of spring training.

   SS Matt Reynolds - also see above. .326, with 23 RBIs.

   RF Cory Vaughn - heating up - 3-4, .250



AA - Binghamton (13-8) 2 -  New Hampshire (12-10) 1 

    RHSP Gabriel Ynoa -  6.0-IP, 4-H, 1-R, 8-K, 4-BB, 3.97

    RHRP Paul Sewald - 1.0-IP, 0-H, 0-R, 2-K, 0-BB, 0.00

    3B Dustin Lawley - 2-4, 1-R, double, 1-RBI, .261

Ynoa and Sewald, and B Mets prevail in a tight one.


A+ - Bradenton (11-11) 12  -  St. Lucie  (11-11)  1

    RHSP Logan Taylor -  3.2-IP, 8-H, 6-R, 3-K, 4-BB, 7.13

    SS Amed Rosario - 2-4, triple, .250

Taylor has disappointed so far.  One of 2 Lucie hurlers to surrender 6 runs.



A - Lakewood (11-11) 2  - Savannah (7-14) 1

    RHSP Casey Meisner -  6.1-IP, 8-H, 1-R, 1-K, 1-BB, 1.93

Meisner showed he can pitch well even when his strikeout numbers are subdued.  Gnats' bats continue to fall flat.

Goat ot the day: Logan Taylor and Robert Coles surrendering 6 runs each for the Lucites.  4 errors and 4 unearned runs cap a miserable night for St Lucie.

Luis Gullorme is being an offensive table setter in Savannah, with 36 hits and walks in 20 games. Kudos.

A level above the aforementioned Gnat, and performing very similarly, is Jeff McNeil. Kudos also.

Unfortunately for Monell he can hit .400 all year and not see Queens until september, if ever.
