TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the third game of a four-game set at Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons have won the first two games of the set by scores of 4-2 and 5-3. Following tomorrow’s game, the Herd will return to Buffalo for its Home Opener on Wednesday against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.

vs. WINGS: With back-to-back victories over Rochester, the Bisons (2-0) have taken an early lead in the 2012 Thruway Series. The Red Wings (2-2) opened the annual competition with two wins in Syracuse (0-2). Dating back to last season, the Bisons have now won nine of their last 11 against the Wings.

OLSON STARTS: The Bisons complete their first trip through their rotation as LHPGARRETT OLSON starts tonight. The southpaw actually pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the season opener on Thursday in Pawtucket. Olson started 15 games and made 24 appearances with Indianapolis last season and was 4-3 with a 3.05ERA.

40HR CLUB: INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI snapped a 3-3 tie in yesterday’s game with his second home run of the season. The slugger now has 40 homers in his Bisons career. He is the 12th player to reach that milestone and the first since OFJASON COOPER (2004-2009). Pascucci hit 17 bombs in 2010 and added 21 more last year as the Bisons Most Valuable Player.

BULLY FOR THE PEN: The Bisons bullpen continued its dominance on Sunday. RHP DANIEL HERRERApitched a pair of scoreless innings to nail down the Bisons’ third straight win. The bullpen has now worked 14.0 scoreless innings to begin the season. The group has combined for eight strikeouts with only seven hits allowed.

BISONS BITS: The back-to-back home runs from OFADAM LOEWEN and INF MATT TUIASOSOPO were the Bisons first consecutive home runs since July 20, 2011 in Syracuse. INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI and OF JASON BOTTS had the honors...The Bisons pitching staff has the second-lowest ERA (1.80) in the International League despite having the second-fewest strikeouts (23).

METS UPDATE: The Mets (3-0) completed a three-game sweep of the rival Braves with a 7-5 win over Atlanta on Sunday. Former Bisons’ LHPJON NIESE struck out seven in six innings of work for the win. INF RUBEN TEJADAhad his first major league four-hit performance with two doubles and two RBI. New York hosts the Nationals tonight.
