Daily Mets Minors Report

Date: 4-24-12

Working from bed tonight... go to VA hospital tomorrow... doing the best I can...
I'm not going to comment on what went down all day in Queens, plus, I have no idea what the Buffalo roster looks like. Hopefully some of the other writers who follow the grown ups will post something...

I know this isn’t baseball related, but it’s such a sweet story…

The ecstatic New Yorker who was reunited with her lost dog, Dusty, after seeing him in a segment about pet adoption on Friday morning's "Today Show" has apparently now given him back to the shelter.. http://now.msn.com/now/0424-lost-dog-shelter.aspx

AAA-Buffalo:

Josh Edgin goes into the next game with an impressive first AAA outing… three strikeouts in five batters faced. Do you think this is a large enough sample regarding Queens?

The ex-Met Chris Carter has changed his name because he is sick and tired of being compared with the other Chris Carter that everyone writes about. From now on his name is Oliver Perez.
(drugs are kicking in for tomorrow...)

There is nothing better online that the morning Mets recap by Adam Rubin. Ironically, a lion share of it is cut and pasting (if I just cut and paste his whole report, reprint it here, then I’d get the hits ESPN gets… err… no, that doesn’t work… ).

I can’t even imagine the fan and writer response if Kirk Nieuwenhuis is sent to Buffalo this month.

OF Dustin Martin signed minor league deal and will report to Buffalo. He was first assigned to Binghamton yesterday, but was sent to Buffalo today after the mess in Queens. I'm thrilled to have him back. I remember handing a piece of paper to Tim Teufel with the details of that trade and he was pissed too.
The lineup was made up with those that were left... one of three starters left, Garrett Olsen, started...
One thing on the exodus to Queens... there's a good chance that Mike Pelfrey is done for the year. Two members of the Buffalo rotation a week ago are now in Queens and could remain there for awhile. Both are good pitchers, but don't be surprsied if the timetable for Jeurys Familia isn't adjusted.. and more coaches in extended camp are spending more time with both Chris Young and Jenrry Mejia

Out of nowhere, OF Vinnie Rottino hits a 2-run homer in the 8th inning of a very boring game into a 2-3 battle... forget the thoughts of Brad Holt being a closer... he came in relief of Olsen in the 7th inning... .

AA-Binghamton:

SP Zack Wheeler hit the mound wildly... 4-BB and O-K in first three innings... ERA is improving but WHIP going to hell... done after five innings... 0-R, 6-BB, 3-K, buck eighty ERA...

Wheeler replaced by good ole RP Eric Turgeon (10.80) ... down 3-0 in a heartbeat... it was interesting to see Clint Everts pitching for a AA-team after seeming to be around since dirt...

A+ - St. Lucie: -
C/1B Juan Torres has been transferred from Savannah to St. Lucie… Ft. Myers greeted 0.00-ERA SP Chase Hutchingson with a 2-run first inning... Lucy seems to have forgotton how to hit this week...

3B Wilmer Flores hit his 2nd HR... pretty much a bunch of nothing here...Ryan Fraser is settling in to be a decent long man (2.2-IP, 0-R, 1.86-ERA)...

Ft. Myers piled it on in the 9th... a real suck game

A – Savannah:

Holy smolies... the Gnats scored three runs in the second.. when it rains, it pours... 10 runs in the first four innings... home runs by LF Dustin Lawley and 2B T.J. Rivera... this game turned out to be a long needed laugher for Savannah.... Rivera is almost hitting .400 and the Lucy second basemen is barely above .250...  dude????

Mack’s Poll - Should I Shut Down Mack's Mets?

Yes
20 (46%)
No
23 (53%)

Lots of ups and down movement today:
-Received the endorsement of Jack Flynn
-Scotty McCreery checked in and hopes that the site remains because I’m the only person on earth that writes about his baseball career (before the ball in the throat thingy)
-other Mets blog leaders continue to rally their minions to vote for the death of MMs… most of that voting comes in after recess. Rumors of super-pack money is being lobbied by every Mets blogger whose last name ends with a vowel
Ex-Sen. John Edwards voted for us to stay, but I blocked

Summation:

A lot of nuthin' across the franchise... we started the season with too many starters and now we can't find enough...  I won't have time to report this tomorrow and will be off-line all day tomorrow at the least... wish me well.

All the best.

Please---don't even think about shutting down your blog. It's always an interesting read, and the place I can always find the real deal on the Mets and the farm system. If you have to, cut back from every day and just post when you have something you want to comment on.
