Remember that Guy? The Forgotten Mets A-Z

Kevin Elster--

All glove, no hit shortsop for the mets in the late 80's.  By 1995, Kevin was nothing more than a late inning defensive replacment.  Like many of his peers of that era, he turned an out of nowhere 24HR, 100RBI season in 1996 into the biggest contract of his career.  He struggled through a couple more years before retiring in 2000.

Honerable Mention--Alex Escobar

Matt Franco--

Matt came up through the Cubs system before being traded to the Mets in 1996.  He spent most of his 5 seasons with the Mets as a damn fine pinch hitter, even setting a record by collecting 20 pinch hit walks in a season.  Matt kicked around baseball until 2006, finishing up his career with Bobby Valentine's Chiba Lotte Marines.  He was also one of several Mets named in The Mitchell Report.

Honerable Mention--Bartolome Fortunato
