Binghamton 3, Altoona 2

The Binghamton Mets overcame a two-run deficit and snapped a seven-gamelosing streak in a 3-2 win over the Altoona Curve Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium.The B-Mets plated two runs in the eighth inning and ended their nine-game homelosing streak in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,481, the 14thlargest in NYSEG Stadium history.

Trailingby one entering the eighth, Eric Campbell started the rally by walking to startthe frame against reliever Jeff Inman. Allan Dykstra followed with a single toright and Jefry Marte loaded the bases with a walk.

Campbellscored the tying run when Dustin Martin beat out a double play on a ground ballto second. With runners at the corners and the infield playing back, FranciscoPena sent a chopper to short and beat out the double play, allowing thego-ahead run to score.

Altoonapacked all of their offense into the fourth, plating a pair of runs againststarter Darin Gorski. Robbie Grossman scored from third to give the Curve thelead, coming home when Gorski uncorked a wild pitch while intentionally walkingJeremy Farrell. Ramon Cabrera doubled the lead with a sac fly.

Itwas the only inning in which Gorski faced more than three batters. The leftyplowed through six innings, allowing two runs on three hits in the no-decision.He struck out six and snuck a bunt up the third base line in the fifth inningfor his first pro hit.

Binghamtoncut the lead in the half with a two-out rally in the fourth. Martin singledthrough the hole on the left side against Altoona starter Brandon Cumpton andpromptly stole second. Wilfredo Tovar drove him home by dumping a double intothe left field corner.

Thescore remained locked at 2-1 into the bottom of the eighth inning thanks toBrad Holt and Adrian Rosario. Holt took over for Gorski and worked a perfectseventh. Rosario worked around a one-out walk in a shutout eighth.

Cumptonexited after the fifth inning with chance to earn the win. Logan Kensing preservedthe lead with two shutout innings before Kensing coughed up the advantage inthe eighth.

Givena one-run edge, closer Robert Carson entered in the ninth. He allowed a singleto start the frame to Grossman, but bounced back to retire the next threebatters, securing his seventh save of the year.

Rosario(1-1) earned his first win at Double-A, while Inman (1-2) was saddled with theloss and his first blown save. Outside of Grossman’s three hits, the rest ofthe Curve lineup combined to go 1-for-21 at the plate.

TheB-Mets (37-45) hit the road for a six-game roadtrip leading up to the All-StarBreak. Their trek begins against the Richmond Flying Squirrels Wednesday nightat 6:35 PM.
