Bradenton 3, St. Lucie 1

The Bradenton Marauders (11-4) capped their road trip with a 3-1 record, opening a three-game series against St. Lucie (7-10) with a 6-3 victory at Digital Domain Park. It was the Marauders first win in five tries this season in Port St. Lucie.
On a night that featured five combined home runs, Eliecer Navarro (W, 3-4) yielded just one run on a solo home run to Greg Vaughn. Navarro struck out three and walked one to secure his third straight winning decision. Marauders starters have not allowed more than two earned runs in any game this since July 1.
Gift Ngoepe opened the scoring with a solo home run in the fourth off Angel Cuan (L, 4-6). Alex Dickerson added an RBI-double in the inning to stake Bradenton to a 2-0 lead. Vaughn homered in the bottom half of the inning to cut Bradenton's lead to 2-1.
In the fifth, Dan Grovatt bunted for a two-out single to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. After stealing his 10th base, Grovatt scored on Ngoepe's second home run. It was Ngoepe's second multi-homer game of the season. Ngoepe had not homered since May 30.
Alex Dickerson added a two-run home run in the eighth off John Church to extend the lead to 6-1. A Mets rally in the ninth ended with Doug Salinas recording the final out for his fourth save of the season.
The series continues tomorrow night at McKechnie Field in Bradenton at 5:00pm.
