LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets gave up four runs in the seventh inning and fell to the Trenton Thunder, 6-5, on Friday night at NYSEG Stadium. Dilson Herrera went 3-for-4 and knocked in three runs to extend his hitting streak to six games. Brandon Nimmo scored twice and drove in two more. Travis Taijeronsingled in the second inning to extend his season-high hitting streak to nine games. Tyler Pill allowed just two runs in six innings and didn’t factor into the decision. It’s the first game the B-Mets have lost with Pill on the mound since May 5.

BINGHAMTON STARTERRHP Matt Bowman makes his 15th start of the season and his first in the Southern Tier since June 29. The Chevy Chase, Maryland native made two appearances in Las Vegas (AAA). He went 1-0 and allowed just three runs in 9.2 innings. Bowman has the ninth best ERA in the Eastern League and is striking out nearly one batter per inning this season. He’s given up a total of five earned runs in his last 27 innings pitched wit h Binghamton. The Princeton product was taken by the Mets in the 13th round of the 2012 draft.

TRENTON STARTERRHP Luis Severino takes the hill for the first time with Trenton this season. The righty has spent the part of the year with Charleston (Low-A) and Tampa (High-A). He was 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 starts with the RiverDogs to begin the year. In four starts with Tampa, gave up a total of three earned runs and none in his last three outings. That includes his last appearance against Clearwater when he tossed four innings of four hit ball and struck out eight on July 8. Tampa lost the game 3-2. The Sabana Del Mar, Dominican Republic native was signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 20, 2012.

STREAK STALLED: Binghamton’s loss to Trenton on Friday was the first for the team with Tyler Pill on the mound since May 5. That’s a period of ten games. This comes after Binghamton lost the righty’s first five outings of the season. Pill still hasn’t taken a loss in 12 appearances, including one stat with Las Vegas (AAA).

TAIJERON TO TEN?: Binghamton OF Travis Taijeron can extend his hitting streak to ten games on Saturday. He would become the seventh B-Met to accomplish that this season and the second in the past month. Taijeron is the reigning Easter League Batter of the Week and is hitting .395 (15-for-38) during the streak.

NEED FOR SPEED: Binghamton stole three bases for just the second time this season, on Friday. The team had only two stolen bags in the previous ten games. The B-Mets are second to last in the league in that category with 50.

HERRERA KEEPS HACKING: Binghamton INF Dilson Herrera went 3-for-4 on Friday to extend his hitting streak to six games. He has a base knock in 17 of the last 18 contests. The 20-year-old has tallied at least one hit in all but four of his outings since joining Binghamton on June 19. He’s collected nine multiple-hit games in just 25 games as a B-Met.

COMEBACK CONUNDRUM: With the loss on Friday, Binghamton dropped to 0-25 when trailing after eight innings. Trenton pitching retired the final six batters in last night’s game. On the other side, The B-Mets are 47-2 when leading after eight frames.

MOWING THEM DOWN: The B-Mets have struck out at least five batters in each of the last 19 games. That includes seven outings with ten or more K’s. The team leads the league strikeouts this season with 772, that’s 17 more than any other team. Saturday’s starter, Matt Bowman, has the second highest K/9 IP ration in the Eastern League at 8.70.
