August 8th 2014 -- Mets 5, Phillies 4

Friday night in Philadelphia, Bartolo Colon allowed just 1 run in 8 innings of work earning his 200th career win.  The Mets beat the Phillies 5-4.  The Mets took a 5-0 lead scoring 4 in the 4th  on RBI hits by Juan Lagares, Wilmer Flores,  Curtis Granderson and Daniel Murphy.  In the 5th Travis d’Arnaud hit a long solo homer off Burnett, his 8th on the year.  The Phils made it 5-1 in the 8th on a solo homer by Marlon Byrd, his 22nd.  In the 9th, the Phils came roaring back to scoring 2 runs off Dana Eveland and a run off Jenrry Mejia. But Mejia held on to notch this 17th save and secure the win.  The Mets tallied 12 hits on the night Granderson, Murphy, David Wright, d’Arnaud and Flores had 2 hits apiece.  Colon went 8 innings allowing 6 hits the 1 run (earned) he walked none and struck out 6 getting the win he’s now 11-9. Burnett takes the loss falling to 6-12.  The Mets are now 27-34 on the road and are 55-61 overall. Saturday is game 2 of this 4 game set. Dillon Gee (4-4 3.73) goes for the Mets, Cole Hamels (6-6 2.42) goes for Philadelphia.

MDD was just pinch hit for at Vegas, so he's clearly on his next flight to Philly. Hopefully, TC is a man of his word and doesnt ice him on the bench.
