Jimmy Duff: (W, 3-1) 2.2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 K. (The Mets are still trying to figure out what they’ve got with this 20 yr old, 20th round draft pick this year. In his 1st year of pro ball, 25.0 IP, he has a 1.80 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, with 19 hits and 5 BB’s.)

Ismael Tijerina: (S, 6) 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB. (After failing to make it as an infielder, the Mets converted Tijerina to the mound. The results have been positive. Used exclusively to finish games for Kingsport in his first season as a pitcher, Tijerina has a 1.69 ERA)

Most of the offense in this game was provided by Ivan Wilson: 2-3, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R.
Zach Mathieu (1-3) had a 2B, an RBI and a R,

GCL Marlins (18-30) edge GCL Mets (25-22) 6-5.
After scoring 3 in the top of the 8th to take a 5-3 lead, the Mets allowed the Marlins to score 3 of their own in the bottom half of the inning to recapture the lead and the game.

Alex Palsha: (BS, 2) (L, 0-1) 0.2 IP, R, 0 ER, H, 0 BB, 2 K. (It is difficult to fault Palsha for giving up an unearned run, so call it an unearned loss.

Raphael Ramirez: 1-3, 2 BB, 2 R.
Hengelbert Rojas: 2-3, 2B, R.
Natanael Ramos: 2-4.

DSL Mets1 (34-29) mop up DSL Mariners (26-38) 6-1.

Merandy Gonzalez (W, 3-2) could hardly be better: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, 4 K.
Harol Gonzalez: (S, 2) 4.0 IP, R, 8 H, BB, 4 K.

Everyone in the lineup, except #9 hitter Oliver Pascual, had a hit, and
Ali Sanchez, (2-3) the Mets leading hitter with a .310 avg, had two. But the story of this game was pitcher Gonzalez, with no runs, no hits, over 5 innings.

DSL Yankees2 (34-30) eke out a win over DSL Mets2 (25-39) 11-10.

After the Mets had come all the way back from a 9-3 deficit to tie the Yankees at 10 after 8 innings, they let it slip away in the bottom of the 9th.

Carlos Hernandez: 3.2 IP, 7 R, 6 H, 4 BB, 3 K.
Randinson Suazo: 2.1 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 K.

I've got to give the struggling Ivan Wilson for hitting 2 HRs yesterday, bringing him to 9 homers in a season where short season teams' homers have been pretty scarce. Hopefully he gets on some sort of roll.

Matt Reynolds must have been hearing people say he was a singles hitter. His power game has recently emerged to with his terrific hitting in general. Maybe Matt gets a look as a Sept Met call up.

Bingo's Jayce Boyd remains on fire. Shades of his first half 2013 performance in Savannah.

the other player on a tear is Gavin Cecchini, who is hitting .360 with a .500 OBP, 1.164 OPS over his last 14 games with 3 HRs and 14 BB. after a simply disastrous July, he has really measured up to High A from an offensive standpoint at age 20. he gets a lot of grief from Mets fans (not his fault he was selected in 1st round) but he has had a pretty nice year moving from Low A to High A and flashed some offensive potential. Not sure there is anything he could do to rehabilitate his image with the fan base, but his early performance in Savannah and his recent performance in STL has to give some hope that he could contribute on ML level.
